Money-Saving Tips for Dating and Couples
from:When couples first start dating, women often don’t notice the expense involved when males pick up the tabs for everything. But when relationships start growing and developing, the gigs up and money needs to be taken into account – for both parties. So here are some helpful tips.
1) Don’t be shy about using coupons and discount specials when dating. Many local restaurants offer hole-punch cards where you get a free meal after your 7th or so meal purchase punch. So grab a card for your wallet and get punches when you pay. Make it ‘your’ place, if you will, but enjoy while taking advantage of a special plan for the two of you!
2) Dates don’t always have to cost money. You can go hiking, fishing, volunteering together. You can go visiting friends and sharing the meal planning, cooking and clean up together, then play some old fashioned games like Parcheesi or newer ones like Trivial Pursuit.
3) Regardless of whether or not you have a job, an allowance or other income – or not income, you need to budget and plan ahead, and not count on someone else to ‘take care of you.’ You need to pull your own weight, too. So be active, take part in productive work and budget your funds, spending and saving wisely. Pitch in in the relationship and do your part financially, too.
4) Set goals for yourselves and stick to them. In other words, don’t rush out on payday and spend everything in one huge night’s bash. Plan ahead and save some money first, then split up the remaining money to cover future expenses. Get budget planning help from books at the library or online articles.
5) Seek financial tips and help from your local banker and online. And shop for cheaper credit card rates online. You can often save even 10 percent or more with a different credit card. And sometimes just shopping rates can help you lower your regular rate on the card you have now. Call and tell them what you’ve found elsewhere and ask them to compete and lower your rate.
Don’t let this list end here! Check at your local library and bookstore and online for more helpful books, articles and other resources like:
